Hi There!

So, I guess I can cordially invite you to my weblog. Still trying to sort some of the .php scripts out so some things are a little temperamental at the moment, hopefullly this will all be fixed in the not to distant future. Anyways, hope you enjoy my rant in the future, cause god have I got a lot to rant about. I mean I could start right now really!!

Let me first introduce myself, my name’s Jordan, originally from a small city named Wellington, New Zealand but have lived most of my life in Sydney, Australia. A bit isolated but all the same a great place to live, beautiful city, nice people, excellent environment………..something that other cities have to try really hard to live up to. And now?? Well, I’ve gotta say I’m in another great city which I really love, it’s just the inhabitants that sometimes let it down. Yes, I am in Berlin. So, here we go, take a ride on this sometimes insulting, usually sarcastic journey of my time here in Berlin. It’s started off a cracker!!

How long does it take to get the phone connected in your area? Apparently here it takes between two and four weeks……….bureaucracy, you can almost smell it can’t you? I don’t even want to mention how long after that it took to get the internet connected, I’ll leave that up to your imagination. You always know it’s a bad sign when companies advertise that they deal with things unbureaucratically, I mean seriously, if I told you not to think of a pink elephant what’s the first thing you think of? Anyways, I’ve been here for about 5 months now and despite everything can still safely say I love it, so to any German reading, please don’t take this blog the wrong way (although I’m sure you will cause  you know what they say………………….if you do something well……………………)

Here we go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So……………………..on the way to work the other morning I got hit by a bloody car, first thing the driver did whilst I was lying in the middle of the road was to lose it at me. GOD!, I’m lying in pain and the first reaction a German has is not to ask if you’re ok, but to start shouting at me (of which I didn’t understand a word). Oh well, apart from a bunch of cuts and bruises I’m ok although the front wheel of my bike has definitely seen better days.

And for todays rant. Well, as far as I’m aware, communication is what keeps a machine well oiled. I gotta tell you, the machine is pretty damn rusty over here. I’m employed through an agency and my contract ends on the 15th, well, I would’ve thought that both the company I’m working for and the agency were aware of the fact that my contract was coming to an end and if anyone wanted to keep me then they’d better do something about it relatively quicky. Anyway, I’d already mentioned something about it last week and didn’t really want to sound like a broken record but I thought I’d better talk to someone else at my company about it (just in case) because the 15th is storming along. I’d already been informed that the company I’m working for would like to take me over as an employee, but you know, I thought to myself, they’re cutting it pretty fine aren’t they. So, when I mentioned it to a different person today he had no idea that my contract with the agency was ending so quickly (again folks, that good ol’ communication) and proceeded to get into a flap rather quickly. So now I have to call up my agency and get them to extend my contract for another 2 weeks while these guys get their a’s into g’s and roll out a contract.

I’m probably gonna fix the order of this up a bit over time, but believe you me, there will definitely be some funny stories to tell. Catch you next time :)
